Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change." – Jim Rohn
We all know that feeling—like you’ve hit a wall so hard, you might as well leave an imprint. You’re just stuck, like a phone with 1% battery and no charger in sight.
Motivation? Gone.
Inspiration? Who even is she?
You’re stagnant, like a puddle that’s been sitting in the driveway for way too long.
But here’s the thing about walls: they’re really just big invitations to lean in and trust that you are meant to rest and see a new perspective. And practice some compassion for yourself!
Sure, right now it feels like you’re starring in the world’s longest and least thrilling episode of “What Am I Even Doing With My Life?” But you won’t stay here forever.
Nothing ever stays the same.
I find most people are sacred they will stay in this place forever. I know, because I use to feel this way too. Beating myself up for not executing my goals, feeling confused, uninspired and not knowing where to start. Instead I’ve learned to treat it like a pit stop—maybe one with questionable snacks and no Wi-Fi, but temporary nonetheless. You don’t need to have it all figured out right now.
Sometimes the best thing to do when you’re stuck is…well, nothing.
Give yourself permission to just sit in the weirdness of it all. Because believe it or not, clarity loves to show up unannounced, like a random Amazon package you forgot you ordered.
But how you may ask?
I got you!
I’ve lived through this so many times now, I trust this magic void.
The next best steps will come. Maybe not in a thunderous “aha” moment, but in the little nudges, the unexpected ideas, the tiny sparks of curiosity that remind you, “Hey, you’ve got this.” So when life feels like it’s hit pause, trust that the play button isn’t broken—it’s just waiting for your cue.
So what is the cue?
Doing something different!
And I mean absolutely anything in your habitual routine.
"If you keep thinking the same thoughts, making the same choices, demonstrating the same behaviors, and reproducing the same experiences, it will take you to the same predictable future." Dr Joe Dispenza
As Dr Joe Dispenza says repeatedly (I’ve attended one of his week long retreats), breaking out of routine is essential for transforming your life.
He believes that when you engage in the same thoughts, behaviours, and habits every day, you reinforce the same neural circuits in the brain, keeping you in the same emotional states and life patterns. This repetition keeps you "predictable," stuck in the past, and prevents real change.
He often says things like, "If you want to change your life, you have to change your energy, which means you have to change your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours." Dr. Dispenza explains that the brain is a record of the past, and by continuously repeating the same routine, you're programming yourself to relive your past every day.
I’ve found that when I hit one of those stagnant periods, I look at my daily routines and change just 1 or 2 things. It’s amazing how, within those small changes, magic starts to unfold.
Here is a personal experience:
I work from home, and during one of those "stuck" phases, I decided to switch things up by heading to a coffee shop a couple of times a week to work. I thought a change of scenery, a new perspective, and maybe seeing a few people could help. Well, in that tiny shift, something amazing happened. I ended up meeting someone who introduced me to someone else, which eventually led to me buying my first gong. Before that, I had no idea how to even go about buying a gong or knew anyone who owned one. That one small change opened doors I didn’t even know existed! All of this lead to a further exploration of my sound bath offerings!
By breaking free from predictable behaviours and emotional patterns, you can truly create a new reality.
Steps & Ideas To Create A New Reality:
Start Small and Keep It Simple: Change one tiny habit—wake up 10 minutes earlier, drink tea instead of coffee, or take a different route to work. These small tweaks can have big ripple effects.
Change Your Environment: Even a small shift, like working in a different room or visiting a new coffee shop like I did, can spark fresh ideas.
Try Something New: Take up a new exercise / yoga class or an online painting workshop. This can reignite creativity and energy.
Challenge Your Comfort Zone: Do something that challenges you, even if it's just a little. This can help shake up the monotony and get your brain working in new ways.
Switch Up Your Routine: Break up your daily habits by doing something differently—change your morning routine, swap work tasks, or take breaks at new times.
Get Physical: Go for a walk at a different time of day—see what the morning joggers are up to, or catch the sunset crew.
Or better yet, walk in a neighbourhood where you’re not sure if you’re lost or just discovering a secret shortcut.
Connect with New People: Meet someone outside of your usual circle. New conversations can inspire new ways of thinking.
Limit Distractions: Identify the things pulling you back into old patterns (like social media) and reduce them for a period to give yourself space for new habits.
Dress differently: And hey, here’s a wild idea: wear your nicer clothes when you’re running errands. Don’t be that person in sweatpants 24/7. Recently, I took all my purses out of hiding and thought, “Why save the fancy ones for a night out? Let’s rock this bag at the grocery store!” Who knew picking up avocados could feel so glamorous? The possibilities are endless.
From here, it becomes possible to create a new personal reality.
Just tweak something—anything—in your routine, and you’ll be amazed at how it can open up new outcomes and perspectives you never expected. Even the smallest change can lead to pleasant surprises and fresh opportunities.
Give it a try!
Shake things up and see what happens.
And hey, let me know if you suddenly find yourself joining a jazz band or adopting a llama. You never know where these little changes might lead! 🤩
